My newly-devised “training plan” goes along the following lines, © mockjogger.

    • Get out three times a week to clock 20 miles total
    • Fit the runs around work and family
    • Crank it up in the lead up to race and taper it down the week before

So now I need to introduce some races to make this work. This is my schedule…

emf_2013_header_entries_open Edinburgh EMF 10k 25 May I would really like to run the half marathon at the EMF, but it’s all sold out (really, I would). At least I will be assured of a PB as it will be my first 10k.

livingston fun run Livingston 10k fun run 8 June There’s only going to be a few people in this. I hope they get the fun part and it doesn’t morph into a conspiracy for club runners to take the ^*&# out of me. I’m pretty confident about getting a PB as this is Livingston and there’s no way I’m running round on my own at the end of the field.

dundeeHalf DRAM (Dundee Running Adventure Half Marathon) 21 July This will take place a few days after I get back from two weeks in the sun, so I’ll be trying out a modification of my training plan with a looooooonger taper.

GreatScottishRunGreat Scottish Run, Half Marathon in Glasgow, 6 October With an expected field of 23,000 folks I certainly wont feel conspicuous. I’m hoping for crowd-fuelled adrenaline.

Observant readers will note that there is no actual marathon in there. I’m going to see how the training plan works out and then decide whether to try my first one late this year or early next year.
